Why keep fighting a fight that you know you aren't going to win, dear Aquarius? Why keep trying to fool yourself and others into thinking that you have all the answers, when really you are just aware of the tip of the iceberg? The mass of knowledge lies well beneath the surface at this time. Instead of fighting, offer your surrender. At this point, others will be much more willing to quench your thirst for the truth of the situation. The key is for you to listen.
Microsoft says it is investigating; attack code published
A vulnerability in Visual Studio 2005 could let an attacker execute code on a targeted Windows machine, Microsoft Corp. said today.
Danish security vendor Secunia AsP rated the vulnerability as "extremely critical" because it hasn't been patched and there are unconfirmed reports that it's being exploited, said Thomas Kristensen, chief technology officer at Secunia. Visual Studio is an application development tool from Microsoft.
Microsoft said that proof-of-concept attack code has been published and that the company could eventually issue a patch after its investigation. Microsoft typically issues patches on the second Tuesday of each month, although it has been known to push out a patch faster depending on the risk of the vulnerability
The vulnerability lies in an ActiveX control called the WMI Object Broker control, contained in the WmiScriptUtils.dll, Microsoft said. For an attack to be successful, a user would have to be lured to a Web site designed to exploit the flaw. Microsoft cautioned against following links in e-mails from unknown senders, since they could lead to an attacker's site.
